Here’s some guy in a chicken suit that thought it would be funny to interrupt a chemistry lecture. The professor did a pretty good job holding back until the idiot let the joke go on a bit too long and decided that he’d had enough. I’m not surprised that the prof got the guy in the end; chemistry profs tend to be spry and a little (by which I mean a lot) crazy.

iMark’s New Toronto Web Design and Print Design Clients

We would like to dedicate this blog post to a few new Toronto web design and print design clients:

Metzlife.com. Metzlife is a brand new Toronto based company dedicated to health and fitness. The interesting thing about this project for us is that it is a WordPress hosted website. This of course means that owner Michelle can update entries on each page, upload video and add photos without having paid for an expensive CMS program or to contact us.

Toronto based traveling mechanic Mark Ellis contacted us to create a compelling logo and business card design for LM Auto Tech. Mark specializes in Truck and Coach mechanics but is able to assess and work on most any engine or mechanical issue. We incorporated a check engine light when we created his logo and business card design. Need to contact him? Leave a comment on this post; I am sure he will read it!

On the topic of logo designs, This Toronto based cricket club asked us to incorporate their existing image to create a logo. This logo design will be embroidered on their team uniforms, which we think is pretty cool. They have told us they will send a photo of the embroidered logo. If we get it, we will definitely show you both this image and the embroidery side by side in a separate post.

This next web design project is not actually a Toronto client but we like his new website and his accompanying blog so much that we are including Iterazia Corporation in this post. Here’s a cool looking advertisement video from Pedigree shot with a crazy amount of slow motion. I just love how happy and excited the dogs look while getting a treat. I feel pretty much the same way about getting a treat, and I move at about the same speed as well.

Breaking Up (with Social Media) is Hard to Do

Why breaking it off with social media is like breaking up with a boyfriend / girlfriend:

1. You broke it off because Social Media was monopolizing all of your time, distracting you even while you were at work.

2. You feel like you shared TMI too soon. Before your first date was over, you had already been pressured to give up wayyy too much personal information about yourself. And that stuff is out there. You can’t take it back. Even though you pretended to be cool about it, it was always in the back of your mind.

3. This is the 12th time you have sworn off Social Media this month. Your friends have started to make fun of your on again off again relationship.

4. Once you call it quits, you:

A) Spend time obsessing over what is being said about you in your absence.

B) Secretly want Social Media to not move on without you even though you were the one to break it off.

C) Want all your friends to quit hanging out with Social Media as a show of loyalty towards you, their real friend.

5. The only reason you stuck it our for as long as you did is because your friends and family are so crazy about Social Media. In fact you are suspicious that they like social media better than you. But that’s crazy, right? (see point 4.C)

Super Bowl Ads Going…Going…Gone!

Super Bowl ads are going fast…and they are not cheap. Of course we take this as a sure sign the recession is on the mend (these days any bit of marketing news that is not a woe automatically gets the status of wow and is touted as a sign that we are lifting out of a recession). According to NBC revenues are expected to be up from last year’s 213 million. I did a tiny bit of digging, however, and found that the going rate for a 30 second spot is the same as it was in 2009, about three million apiece. This is compared to the 2008 pricing of about 2.7 million dollars. So how do we explain the expected growth from 2009 to 2010? Well, we I am thinking they will be squeezing a few more commercials in there. Good thing that this is the one occasion where consumers seem to welcome the commercials. TiVo, Direct TV, and other DVRs are a lot less likely to come into play on Super Bowl Sunday. And with over 90 million rapt viewers, what self respecting conglomerate would not want to shell out the big bucks?
